YouTube sensation Lindsey Stirling is perhaps the first – and only – artist in the world to blend classical violin, modern dance, and…The Legend of Zelda?!
On September 18th Lindsey released her self-titled debut album, Lindsey Stirling, coming off the heels of an incredibly successful presence on iTunes. Comprised of 12 original tracks, the album showcases Lindsey’s signature violin-electronic-dubstep style – opening with “Crystallize,” her most popular piece. Lindsey’s album ranked #1 in the electronic charts for 6 weeks and continues to rank in the billboard top 100. Lindsey is currently touring the United States and Canada and is preparing for a European Tour in 2013.
“My musical style is a reflection of my personality,” Lindsey shares, “and through it I hope to share my belief that no one should be afraid to be themselves.” She adds “All my songs were created to depict specific themes that I pulled from my own life experiences. ‘Spontaneous Me’ is about having the courage to love yourself for who you are.”
“‘Crystallize,’ on the other hand, is a much deeper song: the crystallization of water is affected by its surroundings to create either beautiful patterns or meaningless masses. Similarly, I believe that through our thoughts, beliefs and the environments we create, we each possess the power to make a positive change within ourselves and others.”
Adds Lindsey, “’Transcendence’ was one of the first songs I ever wrote and it to depict my own triumph over some significant trials I have faced. I feel that the lack of lyric-driven content makes my music powerful. I have put my own personal experiences into each track, but it’s for the listener to decide what the music means to them.”
Lindsey composes, choreographs, and directs all of her original music and videos — merging unique violin stylings and electronic dub-step beats with animated contemporary dance. Her wide array of videos are all available on her Lindseystomp YouTube channel, which rings in at more than 640,000 subscribers — and has tallied over 102 million hits. (Viewership is enthusiastic: the ice-themed “Crystallize” at 22 million; her snow-scaped “Skyrim” at 8.6 million; and the silhouette-performing “Shadows” at 7.5 million.)
Between her YouTube Channel, social media outlets, and strong word-of-mouth buzz, Lindsey has gained legions of fans worldwide. She appeared as a finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” performed more recently at video game convention E3, and has played globally in such places as London, Italy, and Kenya. Lindsey’s first headlining performance at historic Webster Hall in New York City sold out in a matter of days. With her unique classical takes on such video franchise themes as “The Legend of Zelda” and “Skyrim”, Lindsey has also endeared herself to masses of gamers, who are among her most avid fans. She now looks forward to her upcoming 2012 US tour this fall which will bring her talents to 24 of the largest entertainment centers of the country – from Los Angeles and San Francisco, to Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.

It’s incredible that GALACTIC has never made a carnival album yet, but now it’s here.
To make CARNIVALE ELECTRICOS, the members of GALACTIC (Ben Ellman, harps and horns; Robert Mercurio, bass; Stanton Moore, drums and percussion; Jeff Raines, guitar; Rich Vogel, keyboards) draw on the skills, stamina, and funk they deploy in the all-night party of their annual Lundi Gras show that goes till sunrise and leads sleeplessly into Mardi Gras day.
GALACTIC was formed eighteen years ago in New Orleans, and they cut their teeth playing the biggest party in America: Mardi Gras, when the town shuts down entirely to celebrate. CARNIVALE ELECTRICOS is beyond a party record. It’s a carnival record that evokes the electric atmosphere of a whole city – make that, whole cities – vibrating together all on the same day, from New Orleans all down the hemisphere to the mighty megacarnivals of Brazil. Armed with a slew of carnival-ready guests—including Cyril and Ivan Neville, Mystikal, Mannie Fresh, Moyseis Marques, Casa Samba, the KIPP Renaissance High School Marching Band, and Al “Carnival Time” Johnson (who remakes his all-time hit)—GALACTIC whisks the listener around the neighborhoods to feel the Mardi Gras moment in all its variety of flavors.

Railroad Earth is one of America’s greatest bands playing today, plain and simple. They sing of our nation’s changing landscape and social ills with a commitment reminiscent of Woody Guthrie, while interpolating instrumental timbres that could have been pulled from Celtic or Cajun culture. And as anyone who has caught them live will attest, their concerts are imbued with the fire-in-the-belly passion of straight-ahead, blue collar rock & roll. Then there is the newest album from the New Jersey sextet, which is the most cohesive embodiment of their myriad gifts to date—hence the decision to simply call it Railroad Earth—showcasing nine new selections that draw strength and inspiration from an acknowledgment of our shared past, while also embracing new ideas and celebrating diversity… just like America when she is at her best.

We started Timeflies in 2010, and after releasing only singles, on September 19, 2011, released our debut album, The Scotch Tape. We also started Timeflies Tuesday – a series in which we are able to stay connected with you by releasing remixes, performing live covers, and freestyling over original beats. We released “Under The Influence”, a 6 track sample based mixtape in July, 2012 and are currently working on our second all original album to be released in the Fall. With another national tour planned for 2012 and 2013, we’re excited for what the future holds.
Cal has been singing and freestyling since high school. While majoring in music and entrepreneurship he joined a band called The Ride. This blues, funk and hip-hop band was when Cal later teamed up with The Ride’s drummer, Rez, to form Timeflies in October 2010. Cal’s musical influences include Robert Johnson, Janis Joplin, Muddy Waters, and his favorite, Big L. Cal’s biggest strength, and weakness, is his love for scotch.
Rez got an early start in production after building a studio in his basement for multiple high school bands. Rez works mostly in Pro Tools, Ableton, and Reason, and plays mainly drums, guitar, and piano. Rez spent a few years DJing in college, double majoring in music and philosophy. In regards to his Timeflies production, Rez cites Porter Robinson, Benny Blanco, Pretty Lights, and JR Rotem as major influences. He is also a serious Green Lantern fan.
