San Francisco-based singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson has built up a loyal fan base through extensive touring. His live shows are stripped-down affairs: half music, half standup comedy, with the humor balancing out the frequently introspective songs. Nathanson has released several independent albums, including Please (1993), Ernst (1997), Not Colored Too Perfect (1998), and Still Waiting for Spring (1999), as well as an EP, When Everything Meant Everything (2002). His major-label debut, Beneath These Fireworks, was produced by Ron Aniello and released by Universal Records in 2003, and was followed in 2007 by Some Mad Hope, his debut for Vanguard Records, featuring the single “Come on Get Higher,” which was featured as a VH1 You Oughta Know artist spot. Nathanson’s songs have also been featured on several television shows, including Good Morning America, NCIS, Private Practice, American Idol, Vampire Diaries, American Pie, and 90210. He’s made also made television appearances on shows hosted by David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmell, and Craig Ferguson. In 2011, Vanguard issued his sophomore effort, Modern Love.

When Monty Python’s Eric Idle created the fictional band “Toad the Wet Sprocket” for the program “Rutland Weekend Television” in 1975, he never dreamed that anyone would actually use such a silly name. Fast forward to 1986, when four California teens adopted the monicker as a joke for their first gig at a Goleta, CA watering hole called The Shack. Against all odds, the joke became permanent. “Toad the Wet Sprocket” has been touring ever since with all four original members: lead singer Glen Phillips, guitarist Todd Nichols, bassist Dean Dinning, and drummer Randy Guss. From 1989-1998, they made 5 studio albums which combined sold over four million copies, had five major radio hits, and won over audiences across North America and Europe.
After breaking up in 1998, Toad would get together sporadically to play shows on a casual basis, but their hard core fans never gave up hope for a new album. After successful tours in 2006-2010, the band finally decided to put the last piece of the puzzle in place, and committed to working together on new music. They also decided to update their classic catalog, and created a new Greatest Hits album “All You Want”, which came out in 2011.
Toad the Wet Sprocket are currently in the studio with producer Mikal Blue, and fans can look forward to a new release and extensive tour in 2013-14.

His comedy flavored miracles have earned him a devoted cult following as well as frequent television appearances on The Ellen Degeneres Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Sweet-toothed frosting fans will recognize Justin as the magical host of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network for the past eight seasons, but his greatest trick to date was receiving a standing ovation from President Obama following a private performance at the White House. he Sound Of Sunshine — the inspired and inspiring new album by Michael Franti & Spearhead — is a kind of musical sun shower, a bright, beautiful and often buoyant song cycle created to bring all kinds of listeners a sense of hope during rough and rainy times for so many in our world.
“Music is sunshine,” says Michael Franti, one of the most positive and conscious artists in music today. “Like sunshine, music is a powerful force that can instantly and almost chemically change your entire mood. Music gives us new energy and a stronger sense of purpose.”
“Music is something you can’t hold in your hands, smell it, taste it or even see it, yet somehow just coming together and feeling these little vibrations that tickle our eardrums can somehow lift us all up out of our most difficult moments in life to unimaginable heights.”

One of the cornerstone bands of the ’90s punk revival, Rancid’s unabashedly classicist sound drew heavily from the Clash’s early records, echoing their left-leaning politics and fascination with ska, while adding a bit of post-hardcore crunch. While some critics dismissed Rancid as derivative, others praised their political commitment, surging energy, and undeniable way with a hook. And, regardless of critical debate over their significance, the band’s strengths made them perhaps the most popular neo-punk band after Green Day and the Offspring. Their third album, 1995’s …And Out Come the Wolves, made them a platinum-selling sensation and an inescapable presence on MTV and modern rock radio. While they never translated that success into an enormous blockbuster record (like the aforementioned bands who hit the mainstream first), that wasn’t necessarily their ambition, choosing to stay with the independent punk label Epitaph and the creative freedom it allowed them. That decision helped them retain a large, devoted core audience as revivalist punk-pop began to slip off the mainstream’s musical radar.

Sanchez’s ‘The Amory Wars’ narrative—spun out across their five previous studio albums which together have sold over 2 million copies in the United States alone—is a good vs. evil science-fiction epic that’s become to Coheed and Cambria fans something like what The Wall and Quadrophenia were to previous generations. Coheed and Cambria seized on the momentum this year with the October 9 release of The Afterman: Ascension, volume one of their remarkable new double album. Volume two, titled ‘The Afterman: Descension’ will follow on February 5, 2013. The Afterman: Ascension debuted at #5 on the Billboard album charts, and sold more than 50K albums in its first week.

For pop-rock quartet We The Kings, it’s all about staying connected — with each other, with their hometown roots, and especially with their fans. Named for hometown Bradenton, Florida’s King Middle School where they first made music together, the band — Travis Clark (lead vocals, guitar), Hunter Thomsen (guitar, backing vocals), Drew Thomsen (bass) and Danny Duncan (drums) — has grown into one of the most engaging and exciting acts on the pop-rock circuit. Talent, ambition, and hard work have all played a part, but for We The Kings, nurturing the bonds between the band and their fans is what makes it all happen.

It’s all too common these days to dwell on the negative, whether it’s a past relationship, a faltering economy or schoolyard bullies keeping you down, but with a little hope and positivity, anyone’s fortunes can change in an instant. It may not always be easy to find that all-important ray of sunlight, but in the end, it’s the love we give to the world that really matters, and the more we give, the more we get in return.
Spreading this message has become the personal mission of Blood On The Dance Floor, and is the guiding theme of the electro-rock duo’s new full-length, Evolution. Moving away from the group’s prior efforts as musical provocateurs, the album captures a spiritual journey drawn from myriad influences in history, spirituality and literature.

From their halcyon days as America’s sweethearts to their current status as superstars who pioneered a genre, The Go-Go’s preside over an amazing three-decade reign as high pop priestesses. The internationally-loved pop hitmakers helped cement the foundation of the early 80′s pop-rock sound without the aid of outside composers, session players or, most importantly, creative compromise. From their very first show, The Go-Go’s sang and played their own songs, offering five feisty role models for a generation of ready-to-rock girls and good, hooky fun for pop-loving guys.
Their story truly is a punk version of the American Dream. They came, they saw and they conquered the charts, the airwaves and, with their kicky kitsch appeal, pop culture in general. For a while, the band was virtually inescapable: TV guest shots, magazine covers, high-profile concert tours and movie offers turned Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine into certified rock stars. Their sparking California pop appealed to an astonishingly wide cross-section of music fans.
